BAOBAB: THE NEW ACAI
For a serious body boost
What is it? An African fruit that is sustainably produced (so it’s eco friendly), pulped and dried into a powder. It has vitamin C, calcium and iron as well as magnesium, B vitamins and prebiotic fibres .
How to use it: Stir 1-2 tsp into yogurt.
CHIA: THE NEW FLAX
For a mental kick-start
What is it? It’s a seed that has more brain-boosting omega-3 oil than superfood hero flax seeds. Plus, it’s higher in fibre than Dukan fave wheat bran and contains tryptophan, from which serotonin, the brain’s very own natural antidepressant, is derived.
How to use it: Add 1 tbsp of chia seeds to a smoothie.
COLLAGEN: THE NEW SILICA
For firmer skin
What is it? Anti-ageing drinks used to be all about silica; now, collagen is the buzz.
Each Collagen Shot contains 10,000 mg marine collagen, with a range of wrinkle-busting essential amino acids plus B vitamin and vitamin C.
How to use it: Down it in one go
MACA: THE NEW GUARANA
For sustained energy
What is it? A powder made from a South American root, it is purported to boost energy and endurance. Ooh er…
How to use it: Add just a pinch to a smoothie.
KALE: THE NEW WHEATGRASS
For a power pick-me-up
What is it? A bitter cabbage that’s almost as unpalatable as wheatgrass (sorry). Its high iron content gives it a metallic flavour, but it’s supercharged with antioxidants.
How to use it: Put raw leaves into a juicer or add raw kale juice to a fruit smoothie.
ALKALINE WATER: THE NEW COCONUT WATER
For full-body cleansing
What is it? It’s the H2O of choice for A-listers like Miranda Kerr. Alkaline water is ionised to include minerals that counteract acidity in the body.
It is said to plump skin and speed up metabolism.
How to use it: Not yet sold bottled so you’ll need an ionising water-filter system.
YACON: THE NEW AGAVE
For a healthy sugar fix
What is it? It’s a sweet-tasting South American root that’s high in inulin, a sugar that the body can’t absorb, so it’s kind to thighs. Plus, inulin is a prebiotic, so fights bloating.
How to use it: Grow your own and juice it, or add 1 tsp of yacon syrup or powder to a smoothie or yogurt.
